Chengannur Mahadevar Temple

Location: 30 km, south of Kottayam
This temple dedicated to Shiva and Parvathi, is known for the Thiruputha festival, when the goddess is believed to menstruate and the cloth with which the panchaloba idol is draped is found discolored with red spots. The Sreekovil is closed during this time and is re-opened only on the fourth day after pacificator rites.
